Howest University of Applied Sciences

Founded in 1995 as the result of a fusion of six institutions for higher education, the Howest University of Applied Sciences is situated in West Flanders. It has campuses in Bruges, renowned as a UNESCO heritage city, Kortrijk, famous as a UNESCO creative city, and Oudenaarde.

Howest is known for its entrepreneurial spirit and the firm way it is rooted in the region’s industrial and social fabric. The extended regional and international network allows it to be at the forefront of new ideas and concepts.

With over 10,000 students and a diverse portfolio of 30 bachelor’s degrees and 13 associate degrees in the fields of management, IT, product design, architecture, health, wellbeing and sports, it not only creates future-oriented study programmes with a focus on active citizenship, social inclusion and multiculturalism but consciously opt for a quadruple helix collaboration towards sustainable economic and societal innovation.

Some of the study programmes are unique in Flanders, e.g. three times Rookie Award winner Digital Arts and Entertainment (DAE), Devine (Digital Design and Development), Applied Architectural Studies or Industrial Product Design.
