ONLINE WORKSHOP

Qualitative Secondary Analysis (QSA)

10 April 2025

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is organising the Online Workshop ‘Qualitative Secondary Analysis (QSA)’ on 2 May 2025.

This workshop, delivered by QSA*Net, is designed for researchers interested in qualitative research methods, particularly in the re-use of qualitative data.

QSA*Net, funded by the National Open Research Forum, aims to stimulate awareness and participation in open research by supporting the practices of data re-use amongst qualitative researchers. Qualitative data are increasingly available through repositories that meet FAIR metadata standards, including the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI). Barriers to sharing qualitative data have been lowered through the development of national and international data infrastructures, and the promotion of open research by funders, research performing organisations, and other key stakeholders. Nevertheless, practices of re-using data remain limited. Participants will:

  • Examine the barriers to qualitative data re-use.
  • Explore the analytical potential of QSA.
  • Receive practical guidance on innovative QSA methodologies.

Building on our collaboration with Maynooth University and the TUS in Ireland, this workshop will contribute to the advancement of QSA methodologies and the development of an openly available resource collection on QSA. It will also support the establishment of an international network on Qualitative Data Archiving and Re-Use.
