SHORT ADVANCED PROGRAMME

Innovative Methods in Mental Wellbeing

20 September 2024

The Short Advanced Programme (SAP) ‘Innovative Methods in Mental Wellbeing’ is jointly coordinated by the Howest University of Applied Sciences, and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

European society is diverse and complex and is constantly changing under the influence of economic, political, technological and social developments. The changes are drastic and rapid and present us with some new challenges in terms of mental health complaints, but also offer some opportunities in the field of support for these complaints.

This SAP offers a comprehensive exploration of many recent innovative methodologies in the field of mental wellbeing that seek to provide an answer to these ‘new’ complaints, taking into account the limitations of this ‘new’ global society, but also making use of its opportunities.

The students will gain a deep insight into new ways of working or approaches to improving wellbeing, while being introduced to good examples of innovation and exploring further challenges.

Using online sessions as a springboard, students will explore innovative methods from their own countries, critically examine them and make suggestions for improvement. They will have to translate their findings into a presentation, a professional product, a fact sheet or a piece of advice.

In the face-to-face week in Howest, Bruges, students will present their final product to their peers and a panel of experts.
