AI for a Sustainable Future Challenge

The 2024 Students Week, hosted by the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (FHV), will feature five Short Advanced Programme Challenges.
The ‘AI for a Sustainable Future Challenge’ is jointly organised by FHV, and the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (NHL Stenden).
This SAP Challenge is a week-long journey where students explore the potential of AI to address key challenges across multiple sectors.
Participants lead their projects, innovating sustainable solutions while developing leadership and collaboration skills.
The programme also fosters AI skills, ethical understanding, and career development opportunities.
The Students Week will allow all RUN-EU students to participate in four more SAP Challenges:
- Future Explorations Challenge
- Building the Born Global Firm Challenge
- Introduction to the Social and Solidarity Economy Challenge
- Regional Energy System – Vision 2040 Challenge

Academic recognition

In general terms, most students will have this RUN-EU SAP certified in their diploma supplement, as a minimal condition.
Eligible participants
Open to all RUN-EU students.
Priority is given to members of the Student Councils of each RUN-EU member university.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this Short Advanced Programme, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving techniques.
- Apply project management principles effectively.
- Showcase strong presentation skills.

Selection criteria
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, applications will be selected on the basis of the sustainable challenge statement in the application.
This SAP is open to all disciplines, and while people with an interest in AI are encouraged to apply, there are no technical or IT prerequisites.
The total number of students selected will be 30.
