Time Management Masterclass

10 February 2023

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is organising an online Time Management Masterclass, by Dr Hugh Kearns (ThinkWell), providing the attendee with an opportunity to join a Community of Practice of Postgraduate Research Supervisors for shared learning and discovery in their supervision practice and experience.

This training will focus on guaranteeing you spend high-quality time on your research outputs.
It covers prioritising, goal setting and managing competing demands in a university context, and it is aimed at postgraduate supervisors who are established in their postgraduate supervision.

If you want to increase your research output without compromising your work/life balance, then this workshop is for you.

Online Workshop
Time Management Masterclass

13 February 2023 • 10h00-12h00 CET

This workshop will show you how to:

  • take control of your time
  • prioritise
  • stop procrastinating and stay motivated
  • avoid distractions
  • say NO (and understand why it is so hard to do so)
  • balance competing demands
  • manage email and paperwork
  • work the slightly less hard way
  • think more realistically about your research productivity

Time Management Masterclass is conducted over one workshop and, in the end, you will know how to develop and support new supervisors and co-supervisors, manage the power imbalance, and personal and professional boundaries.

It is open to all RUN-EU and RUN-EU PLUS Academic/research staff wishing to manage their time better so they can increase their research productivity and improve their work/life balance.

Key aspects of this workshop have been featured in the journal Nature.

Each attendee will receive a pre-workshop reading.
Participants who attend the workshop and complete a short reflective learning piece on their supervision can be considered for a TUS Digital Badge as well.
