Research Supervision Masterclass

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is organising an online Research Supervision Masterclass, by Dr Hugh Kearns (ThinkWell), providing the attendee with an opportunity to join a Community of Practice of Postgraduate Research Supervisors for shared learning and discovery in their supervision practice and experience.
This training is aimed at postgraduate supervisors who are well-established in their postgraduate supervision. and it will be conducted over one workshop.

- Power Imbalances
- Personal Boundaries
- Professional Boundaries
- The PhD Doldrums
- Adapting your supervisory style to the requirements of individual students
- Adapting your supervisory style to the different stages of the PhD
- Support for first-time supervisors
- The care and maintenance of co-supervisors
- Support for postdoctoral researchers as trainee supervisors
Supervision Masterclass is conducted over one workshop and at the end, you will know how to develop and support new supervisors and co-supervisors, manage the power imbalance, and personal and professional boundaries.
Pre-reading will be provided and, post-training, an opportunity to reflect on your group learning.
Participants who attend the workshop and complete a short reflective learning piece on their supervision can also be considered for a TUS Digital Badge.
