Online Workshop on Fundamentals of Research Supervision

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is organising an online Workshop on Fundamentals of Research Supervision, by Dr Hugh Kearns (ThinkWell), supporting the continuous development of supervisors.
This represents an opportunity for joining a Community of Practice for Postgraduate Research Supervisors, by undertaking some short training.
The workshop is open to all RUN-EU and RUN-EU PLUS staff who have or will have, a supervisory role.
Workshop on Fundamentals of Research Supervision
Part 1
9 December 2022 • 9h30-11h30 GMT
Will focus on:
- Attracting and selecting students
- Getting students off to a good start
- Helping students plan their research and organising meetings
Part 2
16 December 2022 • 9h30-11h30 GMT
Will focus on:
- Supporting students’ writing
- Providing effective feedback
- Preparing for the examination
- Dealing with challenging situations
Each part will be 2 hours long. Places are limited.
Pre-reading will be provided and, post-training, an opportunity to reflect on your group learning. Participants that fulfil all parts of the training pre-reading, workshops and post-reflection will be presented with a TUS Digital Badge.
