Welcome to the RUN‑EU Day 2026, the annual initiative celebrated across the RUN‑EU network, with each member university hosting its own local event. Together, we highlight and strengthen the alliance’s core goals by promoting mobility, collaboration, and a shared European identity.

RUN‑EU founding partner IPLeiria enters a new era as the University of Leiria and Oeste

The University of Leiria and Oeste (ULO) has officially begun a new chapter in its history, following the legal transformation of the former Polytechnic University of Leiria (IPLeiria) into a university. The milestone reflects more than four decades of institutional growth and excellence, while opening new opportunities to strengthen education, research, innovation and regional development in Portugal and across Europe.

IPCA becomes the Polytechnic University of Cávado and Ave

From today on, our RUN‑EU partner, the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), officially becomes the Polytechnic University of Cávado and Ave (UPCA), following Portugal’s revised Legal Framework for Higher Education Institutions (RJIES).

Innovation Day connects ten European regions through a shared celebration of innovation

Between February and April 2026, the RUN‑EU Alliance successfully organised the second edition of the RUN‑EU INNOTHON, bringing together students and pre-university learners from across Europe under the common theme “Smart Cities and Smart Villages.”

From 26 to 29 May 2026, Peniche, Portugal, became a hub for ideas, partnerships, and innovation as the Polytechnic University of Leiria (IPLeiria), through its School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (ESTM), hosted the RUN‑EU Innovation Meets Regions (IMR) on Blue Economy.
