21 April 2026

The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is hosting the Online Workshop ‘How to decolonise your curriculum? Challenges, opportunities and Reflections on 29 April 2026.

This workshop aims to explore the importance of decolonising the curriculum in the current higher education settings across Europe.

Based on practical experience of this work at the University of Galway, Ireland, the workshop will be centred on the methodological and practical challenges of this work.

The first part of the workshop will be focused on exploring the conceptual understanding of the topic, followed by practical examples and exercises applicable to participants’ experiences and work. The facilitator will guide the conversation by showing practical examples and tools developed to support the work of academic staff at the University of Galway, and by providing space for individual and group reflection.

Challenges and opportunities for doing this work will be explored during this session, with the intention of examining the institutional, disciplinary, and individual similarities and differences when exposed to this subject matter.

No previous knowledge or experience on the subject matter is required; however, participants are asked to be open-minded and willing to engage with the topic in a dialogical and respectful manner.
