Discovery Programme
Sustainable Interregional R&I Project
Through the Discovery Programme, RUN-EU will create joint RD&I teams that will work on projects focused on our eight key research areas in collaboration with our associated partners, regional innovation clusters and the European Innovation Hubs.
By developing collaborative inter-university projects, this Programme will foster research mobility opportunities for students and staff within the alliance. This will help co-create joint study programmes that promote student engagement in research activities.
ComEnt – Fostering Innovation in Community-Led Enterprise Development
It aims to equip stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop and enhance community-owned and community-led enterprises that foster social inclusion amongst marginalised groups and disadvantaged areas across Europe. By developing a competent body of practitioners in Europe, the project will increase enterprise and employment-focused community development.
Agricity
It aims to create a platform that, through the use of ion-selective electrodes (electrodes based on crystalline) currently available in the market:
– finds and monitors the existence of contaminating heavy metals over time, namely copper, which must be below the quality standard value for water used in zones of urban agriculture
– collects information from a sensors network spread across urban agriculture soils
– disseminates live data to a central platform that analyses and disseminates it to farmers, councils or civil protection.

ORCHESTRA – add-value to ORCHards through thE full valoriSaTion of macRoalgAe
It aims to develop bio-formulations to suppress the use of synthetic chemical products/additives to combat pests and nutrient deficiency, namely through a seaweed biorefinery, resistance induction, plant fortifiers, and soil quality improvement. It also addresses the long-term preservation of fruits (Rocha pear and Alcobaça apple) to improve shelf life during storage and distribution chain by maximising phytonutrients.
INVISIBLE 5G – Fostering Innovation in Community Virtually Invisible Small Cells for 5G Densification
It addresses the challenges of 5G densification in its development, namely those resulting from specific requisites of spaces that generate unique challenges in the design and implementation of small cells in urban scenarios, using the necessary scale to ensure future 5G capacity and services.
STC 4.0 HP – New Generation of Stoneware Tableware in Ceramic 4.0 by High-Pressure Casting Rob0ot work cell
It aims to establish the production conditions that will allow GRESTEL to launch a range of innovative products in fine stoneware tableware worldwide by combining different ceramics 4.0 technologies with robotic finishing and artificial vision control.
RUN-EU PLUS – Professional Research Programmes for Business and Society
It aims to reinforce academia-business collaboration in the three RUN-EU thematic areas (Future Industries and Sustainable Regional Development, Bioeconomy and Social Innovation), through the development of a framework and programmes at MSc and PhD levels across the network.
