Jointly coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Leiria (IPLeiria), the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (NHL Stenden) and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), the Short Advanced Programme (SAP) ‘Unlocking the Power Within: The Creative Path to Transformative Brain and Integrative Health Practices’ is a broadly interdisciplinary programme based on a conceptual and theoretical relationship between the Arts, Social Sciences, Health, and Neurosciences.

Macro concepts such as Creativity, Transformative Learning and Teaching through the Arts, Art and Mental Health, and Prevention of Risk Behaviour are linked to more specific concepts like emotional expression, emotional self-management, and art as a tool for preventing risky behaviour. They also include art as a tool for inter- and intrapersonal communication and neuroplasticity mechanisms related to aesthetic enjoyment, among others.

This SAP is based on current scientific evidence and the presentation of international case studies and award-winning projects in a higher education context.

Through active teaching methods that encourage students to learn critically, participatively and autonomously, this programme promotes an integrative and complementary vision of different fields of knowledge.
