SHORT ADVANCED PROGRAMME
RUN-EU Research Challenge
Artificial Intelligence 2 AI – 2nd edition
3 June 2024
Jointly organised by the Polytechnic University of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), the second edition of the SAP Research Challenge ‘Artificial Intelligence 2AI’ will promote the development of in-person R&D activities, focused on the field of Artificial Intelligence 2AI.
The SAP programme is divided into two components: training and group research.
The training component will be based on short thematic workshops taught by experts. These workshops will focus on emerging AI-related topics (including Deep Learning, Tiny AI, Blockchain, Collaborative Robots, Simulation and Additive Manufacturing) and training in basic research components (namely Research Methodologies, Data Analysis, Scientific Writing, Preparing Scientific Pitches and Funding Opportunities).
For the research component (called Hands-On), young researchers will be integrated into projects currently being carried out in IPCA’s R&D units and challenged to carry out a short-term R&D project oriented towards the project’s objectives. The students will divide into groups under the supervision of a senior researcher.
In addition to the research activities, the young researchers will participate in scientific discussions among the different members of the IPCA R&D units, called Journal Club. They will be challenged to analyse a recent scientific publication and present their methods, results and key findings to the IPCA scientific community.
Finally, all students will prepare an oral presentation of the projects developed in the scientific communication sessions of the IPCA R&D units.
