The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is organising the Online Workshop ‘Publishing – the essential guide’ on 23 January 2026.
This workshop provides the fundamentals of publishing, including papers, book chapters and reports. It is important for PhD students who wish to get started with publishing, staff members across the alliance who want to support their students to publish, going into Open Access options, tailoring their ideas to journals and different publications and audiences.

- Sourcing publication opportunities
- Becoming an academic entrepreneur – building your publishing niche
- Open Access options
- Different types of publications
- Practical examples from real-life authors
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe some of the major publication routes, including peer-reviewed articles, books and book chapters
- Outline some of the main challenges and opportunities of publishing in, for example sole sole-authored publications and joint publications
- Why publishing matters in contemporary HE.
