BLENDED INTENSIVE PROGRAMME
Smart Everything
Connecting Artificial Intelligence Tools with Business Ideas
1 March 2025
The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) ‘Smart Everything – Connecting Artificial Intelligence Tools with Business Ideas, is jointly coordinated by the University of Burgos (UBU), the Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and the Polytechnic University of Cávado and Ave (IPCA).
The programme introduces students to how new technological developments of Artificial Intelligence can be applied to specific business ideas. Participants will learn how to use free, open-source large language models to create a variety of tools, such as chatbots, document analysis applications, translators for up to 60 languages, content generators, sentiment analysis tools, and summarisation software. By working with these existing machine learning models, they will gain practical experience in applying AI technology to solve real-world problems and generate business ideas.
This BIP invites to address the urgent coordination between the makers (IT) and the marketers. It rethinks the practice of design, development, and consumer relationships as a more collaborative process. Co-creation has proven to be one of the most successful ways to generate value, enhance consumers’ experiences, and ultimately create products that seamlessly solve real problems.
Over a six weeks period, the participants will design, develop and market together in an international and multidisciplinary group. The group will build a prototype app using generative Artificial Intelligence language models. Business and IT students work hand in hand from start to end in the design of the prototype. The participants should also work on their strengths like IT students in programming, marketing students in marketing planning and accounting students in profit calculations. The prototype should contain a mockup idea of using Artificial Intelligence for business purposes. The project from code to pitch will deliver what we expect will be the future of smart products and consumer relationships. To ensure the successful development of their projects, students will commit to a series of milestones, including individual preparation work, an intensive group work week, an ideation presentation, a prototype presentation, and a final presentation of the minimum viable product (MVP). The course will conclude with an on-site intensive week.
