Paula Tavares

Professional experience

Paula is the Vice-President for Internationalisation and Communication at IPCA since January 2022. She is an Associate Professor at IPCA and the Director of IPCA’s ID+ Research Center in Design, Media and Culture. She was the Dean of the IPCA’s School of Design between 2015 and 2022. Paula Tavares has a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo in Spain. Paula has been participating in several academic, scientific and management bodies.

Research experience

She has been involved in a set of financed projects in the design area and artistic projects with different institutions and entities. She is the General Chair of CONFIA. She has been editing books and proceedings, and she has several publications in Art and Design, including book chapters and papers in international journals and conferences. She is also a reviewer in journals in their research interest fields and integrates the scientific committee of international conferences. She is represented as an artist in several collections and she has been participating in exhibitions and artistic events since the 1990s.

Supervision experience

More than 60 PhD and master’s students in Art and Design have obtained a postgraduate degree under her supervision.
