The RUN-EU Innovation Day is a shared event held simultaneously across all RUN-EU partner institutions, celebrating innovation in its many forms. While following a common concept, each institution focuses on the type of innovation most relevant to its local community – whether technological, social, environmental, cultural, or economic. This flexibility ensures local relevance while building a shared European identity around creativity and progress.

The event provides a welcoming, informal, and participative space for discussion and collaboration, inspiring new ideas and helping communities address social and environmental challenges. It is co-ordinated by the RUN-EU team in partnership with lecturers, researchers, and innovation experts who work together to design engaging and inclusive programmes.

Each Innovation Day features contributions from researchers, SMEs, spin-offs, start-ups, and social innovation organisations, showcasing pioneering ideas and regional success stories. Formats may vary across institutions and can include talks, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions to encourage active participation and knowledge exchange.

The RUN-EU Innovation Day aims to engage a wide audience, particularly participants from outside academia – regional companies, social organisations, associated partners, and members of the public – alongside students, teachers, and researchers connected to the chosen innovation theme. Each event welcomes at least 25 participants, ensuring vibrant and meaningful interaction.

Organised annually, in line with European Science Week, the RUN-EU Innovation Day strengthens collaboration, visibility, and shared purpose across the RUN-EU network. It stands as a celebration of creativity, community, and the innovative spirit driving a more sustainable and connected Europe.
