RUN-EU launches Pilot Version of Common Online Portal to enhance shared Systems and Services
27 March 2025
RUN-EU has released a pilot version of the RUN-EU E-hub, a common online portal, marking a key step towards integration of the provision of RUN-EU learning opportunities across the alliance.
This milestone, reached in Month 15 of the RUN-EU project, supports the vision of creating a fully connected European University.
Integrated with the RUN-EU website, this portal will centralise and streamline key services, including easy access to the RUN-EU organigram, supporting the creation of RUN-EU Short Learning Opportunities, collaboration in MS Teams and a simplified registration process for students, researchers, and staff seeking to enrol themselves for learning opportunities provided by the RUN European University.
Developed by Howest University of Applied Sciences, Belgium, it follows a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach, ensuring it meets current needs while allowing for future enhancements and integration.

A Unified Approach to Digital Services
Since the start of RUN-EU 2.0 in January 2024, efforts have focused on developing shared systems and services that support RUN-EU as a single, integrated entity.
The goal is to move beyond simple cooperation and create a connected structure that aligns with existing digital systems (such as the RUN-EU website) across the alliance.
The new portal plays a crucial role in this transformation by providing RUN-EU IT infrastructure and digital tools that support administrative functions, academic and student services, library access, and information management
The portal serves as a shared resource for multiple RUN-EU activities.
It supports the RUN-European Programme Academy (RUN-EPA) activities related to delivering a variety of RUN-EU learning opportunities, including Short Advanced Programmes (SAPs), Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programmes, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).
An intense internal communication campaign is underway. Training on the portal has already been provided to RUN-EU Management and key Members of RUN-EU partner organisations (students and staff) register themselves on the platform to either collaborate within the consortium or to enrol for RUN-EU learning opportunities. This RUN-EU E-hub supports the diversity and scalability of RUN-EU and all partner institutions. It is designed to facilitate collaboration across all current and future consortium activities.

Future Developments and Expansion
The launch of the pilot version is just the beginning. Over the next 33 months, the portal will be continuously improved and expanded. Future developments include a shared systems and services implementation plan with an assessment framework for monitoring progress, along with a strengthened research collaboration under the RUN European Research Area (RUN-ERA) and improved regional stakeholder engagement under the RUN European Stakeholder Engagement Centre (RUN-ESEC).
Towards a More Connected European University
The RUN-EU E-hub is a common online portal which represents a major step towards creating a seamless and integrated RUN – European University. By consolidating existing and future services and opportunities into one platform, RUN-EU is building a more accessible and dynamic academic and research environment.
With ongoing improvements, the portal will play a key role in shaping the future of higher education collaboration across Europe.
