Promotion of the RUN-EU European Zone for Interregional Development (EZ-ID) at UBU
19 November 2024
RUN-EU is committed to promoting a “European Zone for Interregional Development” (EZ-ID). This interregional cooperation promoted by the RUN-EU universities seeks to create networking that allows the economic, social, cultural, and environmental development of our regions, making Europe more competitive, more connected, more social and inclusive, and greener.
The University of Burgos (UBU) wants to be an active player in the transformation and development of its region. With this in mind, it hosted two events last October: “Shaping Interregional Cooperation for Innovation” and “Innovation Meets Regions” which brought together more than 100 people from institutions, companies and stakeholders from the eight European RUN-EU regions.
On 12 and 13 November, the RUN-EU office of UBU organised the visit to Burgos of a Finnish delegation from the Kanta-Häme region. Meetings have been held with business associations and local companies, Burgos City Council and regional institutions. These meetings aimed to strengthen relations to improve trade and the internationalisation of companies in the regions of Kanta-Häme and Castilla y León.
The Finnish delegation (made up of representatives of the Häme University of Applied Sciences-International Business, Häme Smart Growth and LINNA Business Development) has met with the top representatives of different entities (ICECYL, CEOE CYL, Burgos City Council, ProBurgos, FAE Burgos), as well as internationalised local companies such as ASERCOMEX logistics and the agri-food company FLORBÚ. The University of Burgos has acted as a facilitator and promoter of these relationships. During this visit, synergies were found in both regions between the mechanical-electronic, metal and agri-food sectors.
More importantly, cooperation projects have been carried out that will begin with the organisation of online workshops on interregional cooperation and good practices, with the request for joint European projects and the offer of student mobility and internships in companies in Finland and Spain. In this way, the UBU is actively working on the development of our regions and the RUN-EU European Zone for Interregional Development (EZ-ID).
