Empowering All: Fostering Diversity and Inclusion at NHL Stenden
21 October 2024
At the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (NHL Stenden), we believe in creating an environment where everyone can be themselves, feel safe, and have equal opportunities – regardless of their background.
By emphasising what unites us and valuing our differences, we enhance the quality of our education, research, and work practices.
International profile
Our global and intercultural perspective plays a key role in fostering diversity and inclusion. With students and staff from over 90 countries, our education and research are enriched by diverse cultural insights. By promoting internationalisation at home and abroad, we prepare students for a rapidly changing, intercultural and global job market, equipping them with the skills to collaborate, communicate, appreciate different perspectives and understand people from different backgrounds.
Diversity & Inclusion Task Force and IDARE
The Diversity & Inclusion Task Force is dedicated to shaping, implementing, and overseeing policies that promote diversity and inclusion across our institution. Collaborating with a broad advisory group—comprising students and staff from various academic programmes, services, and multiple campus locations –they ensure that all voices are represented. The task force also works closely with initiatives like IDARE (Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, and Equity), building on existing efforts to foster a more inclusive community. IDARE, a grassroots initiative led by students and staff, focuses on outreach and organises workshops and events on these topics.
Diversity & Inclusion is reflected in our brand narrative: Home of the Originals
NHL Stenden is a community of originals, people who break down the status quo, make unobvious choices and do things a little differently. It’s an international community where you share and develop your individual views and talents to connect and explore above and beyond. Where you learn to think and act from different perspectives and pool your knowledge with others as you work together to explore different ideas. A place where you can be you, where you feel safe to fall, brush yourself off and stand up again. A community where very different worlds come together to grow the best ideas. Together we can push boundaries.
