RUN-EU Attended a Meeting on the European Degree Package in Spain

15 October 2024

Representatives from all Spanish universities in European alliances attended the European meeting on the ‘European Degree Package’ organised by the ARQUS European University Alliance and hosted by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid on 30 September.

Officials from the Ministry of Education and Universities and Spanish quality agencies were also present, underlining the strong regulatory oversight.

RUN-EU was represented by Ileana Greca Dufranc, the University of Burgos Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation and Cooperation, and Sergio Pérez-Castaños, its Deputy Secretary General.

The European Degree Package, proposed by the Council Recommendation on a quality assurance and recognition system, and the Council Recommendation on attractive and sustainable careers in higher education were discussed in the meeting. These issues are of great importance for the future of the European higher education system. Regarding the European Degree Package, work was carried out on four aspects: the organisation and management of the programme, the learning experience, the assessment of European values and the processes needed to ensure compliance with the criteria.

Spanish universities have come together in European Alliances to meet the challenges of the new European degrees. This joint effort, which considers the need to design attractive and sustainable degrees and legal requirements, demonstrates our shared commitment to higher education.

To ensure that we all move forward together, RUN-EU also took the opportunity to deepen common strategies.
